Converting documents to a newer format – Question Info
My document title says [Compatibility Mode] – Microsoft Support
I midrosoft installed Office on my pc. On the one user everything is fine while the other two users rfee their document1 opening in compatibility mode. Please share how to fix this problem. The default save format is at. Or if it is a glitch in Office 16 that will be fixed in an update? As far as I know of, it is only doing it for Word.

I have a of a conundrum. I am supplying MS Word Documents to some of my suppliers, with Compatibility mode activated – these are being provided in Office Now, I am getting them back with it being deactivated, and then some formatting elements being lost as they are turning them off.
The suppliers are using multiple word versions to edit content. Is there a way I can actually lock compatibility mode down so that no matter what the end user does, they can’t turn it off? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Compatibility mode is used when you open a doc in a version of Word that differs from the version it was created in.
If you are supplying a doc which you expect the user to edit, theres not a lot of control you can impose. So – we actually want them compatible on our side with and And the suppliers can use any version up to and including and – but more often they are in , and Our delivery method is an upload into a SharePoint site, where the suppliers pull the content down and start editing.
They are actually editing in track changes, but we notice layout differences reflows for example on non-tracked content, when we get content back – and we can see that TC’s are done correctly. Text reflow in Word is not related to Compatibility Mode or to how documents are downloaded from SharePoint.
Track Changes doesn’t notice when automatic reflow occurs. It tracks only user-initiated changes such as manual line breaks. When you reopen a document in Word on the original computer with the original printer selected, I would expect the text to reflow back to the original layout. If it doesn’t do that, can you identify what edit or other change has caused the difference?
