If I take my DC’s from R2 standard to datacenter, does it really impact anything? I have seen it work without issues but I would always recommend spinning up another DC VM and demote this Domain Controller, do the license conversion and then join it back to the domain. It happens with Upgrade paths too, although it should not interfere it is best to always have a backup and remove from domain, upgrade and join back to domain.
